I am excited to introduce you to Lindsay and Joey! We can’t wait for their wedding on Saturday at the Kent Manor Inn. Learn more about this sweet couple below!
How did the two of you meet?
We met back in 2009- we were both in fourth period GT Calculus with Mr. Lockwood at Howard High. While we did not date in high school, we shared a friendship bonding over derivatives and differential equations. Joey claims that he ended up getting a higher grade in the class (although this is unconfirmed). Joey ended up graduating from Howard in 2010 and attending the University of Maryland, while I moved down to Virginia to study at JMU in 2011. We rekindled their friendship over a seemingly casual game of Trivia Crack in December of 2014. After I consistently out-trivia'd Joey, he decided it was time to send me a message, stating "lol I'm not very good at history". It was then that I knew she would marry him. Just kidding.
Lindsay, what do you love about Joey?
From the very beginning of our relationship, Joey has done everything in his power to make me happy, no matter how inconvenient for him. While I was still in college, he would often be the one to drive down to VA to visit me on the weekends. When I lived in Fed Hill, he would sacrifice weekends at home with his friends in order to spend time with me. He always has dinner ready for me when I come home from 12-hour day shifts, and he never complains about taking over cleaning the house/doing laundry on weekends that I work. He puts me (and our dogs) before himself each and every day and not a minute goes by that I don’t realize how lucky I am to be marrying him!
Joey, what do you love about Lindsay?
Everything. She is such a caring and loving person, and I really think that shows through her work at the hospital. Being a nurse is definitely hard work and can really put a lot of stress on someone. I cannot even begin to list the amount of times that her co-workers have told me what an amazing nurse she is. She goes far above and beyond. Staying way later after her shifts are over to help other nurses and sometimes just spending time with her patients. Even spending hundreds of dollars on blankets, hats, swaddles and more for the sick kids at the hospital. This woman makes me so proud every day, and I am truly blessed to be able to spend the rest of my life with her. Lindsay keeps me grounded. She is always there for me in moments of sadness and stress, and is always willing to listen to my problems, and provide solutions.
What is something special about the two of you?
Meeting in High school as friends, having little to no contact for about 4 years, and then falling in love. We talk about this all the time actually- it’s pretty amazing that things turned out the way that they did. It’s really special how this happened- I mean who would have thought it would? Rekindling a simple friendship and turning it into something much better.
What do you like to do as a couple in your free time?
Honestly, with our work schedules being so different from each other, we really love to spend our free time together on the couch with the dogs watching HBO documentaries or The Office. It’s so nice to just forget about all of the craziness in our lives & unwind with each other.
What are a few of your favorite things?
We really love spending time with our dogs (have we mentioned how much we love our dogs yet???) and just being present in the moment together. It doesn’t really matter what we are doing together; as long as we’re together, we’re enjoying ourselves. We have a favorite Vietnamese Pho restaurant that we probably eat at least one a week. And Chipotle…. We really love some Chipotle too.
What does your dream wedding look like?
While we’ve dreamed a lot about the actual look of the wedding, we’re most excited all of our favorite people in the world being under one roof. Both of our families (and friends) come from all over the world, so the opportunity to have everyone together to celebrate such a huge event for us is truly once in a lifetime and we are SO looking forward to it.
Why did you choose to work with Social Graces?
We knew we would need some help in the month leading up to the wedding, so we asked some friends for recommendations. Social Graces came highly recommended both from people we knew, and online. From our very first email to each other, Katie was SO easy to talk to and we clicked instantly. Katie immediately took all of the pressure off of us, and our last month of engagement has actually been super relaxing thanks to all of her hard work!
