Erin and James are friends of mine that have the dream to elope in the place that most of us only dream of visiting one day - Paris! I am so happy to consultant them on all of their destination wedding needs as they embark on a magical journey.
What to expect on their special day:
How did the two of you meet?
We were living in the same apartment building and met at our pool. James went to Auburn and I was wearing an Alabama visor - a true testament to opposites attract.
James, what do you love about Erin?
Erin is beautiful and she is the most caring and generous person I know. She is my equal and keeps me in check. And most importantly she is my best friend. I couldn't ask for a better combination.
Erin, what do you love about James?
James is so cute - I think I knew very early on that he was the man I would 'belong to' for eternity. I love that James is a 'guy's guy' but not when it comes to me. I love how much he loves our dogs and that while they are spoiled and needy (my doing), he spoils them more than me now. I love that my niece calls James 'My James' because of how special he makes her feel when we visit her. I love that James has a strong work ethic and is loyal. I love James's hugs - he has the best hugs and best kisses. I love his smell (almost all of the time) - and for a girl with a VERY strong sense of smell, this says a lot. And I love how he makes me feel like I am the most beautiful person in the world and for whatever reason, I believe him that he'll see me that way even when we are old and gray.
What is something special about the two of you?
James and I met in Connecticut and after dating for less than a year, both moved to different cities for work - James moved to Dallas and I moved to Atlanta. We then dated long-distance for 2 years before relocating to Charlotte to live together. We have been in Charlotte now for 3 years.
What do you like to do as a couple in your free time?
Walk and hike with our two dogs, cook, watch TV in bed. Our favorite weekend getaway is going to Asheville - for great restaurants, hiking and Grove Park Inn Spa.
What are your favorite things?
For adult beverages, we both love red wine and IPA’s. Our favorite foods—we both love a really good steak or burger (medium-rare), sushi, seafood, Indian, Thai, cheese, olives, and French fries.
What does your dream wedding look like?
We wanted to elope in a beautiful place, an intimate outdoor setting, and we wanted to celebrate with an exquisite dinner. We have always wanted to go to France, love French décor, French food, so heading to Paris made the perfect sense!
Why did you chose Social Graces?
We chose Social Graces for 3 reasons:
1 - I love Katie's style - not only her style in that she has great taste, but her style in how she works with you. I am a very indecisive person and Katie was so great in sending me ideas, helping me figure out my taste without being opinionated. There were times, too, when I sought her expert opinion and she always had great advice. James would agree. Whenever I was giving him updates or trying to make a decision, he would always comment, "Oh wow, was that Katie's idea?" or "What does Katie think?"
2 - Katie's personality and demeanor - Katie has such a calm demeanor but is also so fun and full of life. She loves helping people and it's genuine. Anyone who chooses Katie as their wedding planner will get what I mean very quickly.
3 - Quality - Katie treated our elopement day like it was her own. I am a pretty detail-oriented person myself, and in so many instances, Katie pointed things out to me that I would have never thought to consider.
I can't say enough about how our wedding day would not have been anywhere near as special to us if we didn't have Katie. Our only regret is not having her there in Paris to see it all come to life.
