This post makes my heart smile. I am so overly excited to be part of Alli and Alex's special day. I was there when these two met for the first time and I instantly knew it was going to be something so good. They are a very special couple and I know that their wedding day is going to be nothing short of amazing! Read the post below to learn more about these two love birds!!
How did the two of you meet?
We met at East Carolina University in Sept. of 2013. Alli was a Chapter Consultant for Phi Mu and Alex was also a consultant for Sigma Nu. Alli was there starting the new Phi Mu chapter (with Katie!) and Alex was meeting with Sigma Nu alumni. Alli wasn't quick to be interested in meeting Alex. She received multiple phone calls and texts from ECU's Director of Greek Life before agreeing to meet him. Finally she agreed to meet him. Later than evening, after Alex sat through a dinner with Alli and the rest of the Phi Mu consultants, Alex asked if Alli would call him after Bid Day to 'let him know how it goes'; she made the phone call 4 days later and then rest was history.
Alli, what do you love about Alex?
The thing I love most about Alex is how much he invests in and loves people. I know whether we are at a work event of mine (where he usually knows only a handful of people) or we are with close friends, I will either meet someone or learn something new about someone there. He asks people questions not for the sake of asking a question but because he is genuinely interested. I don't think a lot of people do that these days. I also love how devoted Alex is to his family. The first real date Alex and I went on, I met his mom and dad, not necessarily because I was the bee's knees (although glad it worked out) but because he was on the road and that was the only time to see his parents. I am so excited to soon be able to call Alex my husband and I know I will only continue to come to learn and love even more about him.
Alex, what do you love about Alli?
Alli has such a genuinely kind spirit. She's very strong in her beliefs and convictions. One of my favorite parts of knowing Alli is being able to brag about her when people ask what she's been up to. Professionally, she's wildly successful and is viewed as a leader in the workplace. Some of the more tangible items include her love (read: toleration) of copious amounts of football on the TV, ability to cook and entertain, and love of family and friends. She's incredibly thoughtful as most people will know, and is always sending notes and cards to those she cares about. She's very hands on with her love and I believe we need more of that in the world.
What is something special about the two of you?
Our whole relationship has been long distance. We went from Alli in North Carolina and Alex traveling the Southeast to Alli in Arkansas while Alex still traveled the Southeast, to Alli in Williamsburg and Alex and Lexington, and now both of us are in Williamsburg. The closer we got to each other (geographically speaking), we kept asking ourselves, "do you think we'll get sick of each other?". Clearly that never happened. We have spent more days apart from one another than we have together but somehow (probably Alex's patience) we made it work. Also, we're world champion (in our own minds) karaoke performers. Shout out to Wild Beaver Saloon in Nashville.
What do you like to do as a couple in your free time?
We love to do anything outside, cook together (with wine always being a nice pairing). We both love to travel and preferable together! In the fall, anything that involves football and friends makes us happy!
Why did you choose Social Graces?
We chose Social Graces because Katie is a friend of ours! Katie and I use to work together at Phi Mu when Katie was our Extension Coordinator and she was one of the few people that was there when Alex and I met at East Carolina University. Katie planned all of our extension efforts which was definitely no easy task, and if she can plan that, I fully trust her to make sure all of the details of our wedding day go off without a hitch! We are so excited to work with Katie!
